Welcome to our heart project.
We are a Tico, a Gringa, and our two ‘Tingo” children fortunate enough to live the dream in Costa Rica.
Cara and Leo’s journey began on the Savegre River near Manuel Antonio in 2006. At the time, Cara worked as a trip leader for an active travel company, while Leo operated white water rafting trips. Their shared passion for adventure blossomed into marriage in 2009. Two years later, they welcomed their son, Luka, followed by their daughter, Kaia, a few years thereafter.
Leo’s affinity for rivers originated in 1992 when he worked as a guide on the Pacuare, a river on the Caribbean slopes of Costa Rica. Settling in Manuel Antonio, he established his own white water rafting company, H2O Adventures, and pioneered commercial trips on the challenging class IV-V Chorro Section of the Naranjo River, east of Quepos. Leo’s attachment to the land led to the acquisition of the property where Chorro Ecolodge now stands.
Our journey with Chorro Ecolodge began modestly, with camping trips for family and friends. Initially just a hillside, we gradually developed flat spaces for tents and installed a water source. Our vision expanded, leading us to construct platforms from river rocks, procure Costa Rican Safari Tents, craft furniture from recycled palettes, and eventually build a fully equipped kitchen and an elevated teak yoga platform.
The evolution of Chorro Ecolodge continues as new ideas and dreams emerge. Its allure lies in the healing and serenity of this sacred space nestled in nature and by creating authentic experiences with sister company Luna Vida Adventures.
However, our greatest joy lies in sharing our family heart project with loved ones.
